User’s Guide

Here are instructions for each section of the myOilCache app:

Home HOME: On the Home Screen, you can access the Oils, Accessories, Recipes, Shopping List, Purchase Report and Statistics. For more instructions for each section, see details below:

Oils The Oil section shows you all the Oils you entered. You have the option to view All Oils, only your Single Oils, or only your Blended Oils. From the Oil screen, you can:

  • Add Oils: To add an oil, tap the ‘+’ button (top right). When adding an Oil, you have the option to add as much or as little information as you want. The only required field is the oil name.**If you purchase the same oil again, you do not need to add it as a new oil, you can add the Purchases Details to an existing oil. That way you can keep track of how often you purchase an oil, how much money you’ve spent, how many are opened, expired, and empty.
  • Archive: Tap the ‘cabinet’ button (bottom left) to view oils that you have added to the Oil Archive.
  • Favorites: Tap the ‘heart’ button (bottom left) to view the oils you added to your Favorites list
  • Expired Oils: Tap the ‘warning’ button (bottom middle) to view the oils that are expired.
  • Photos: Tap the ‘photos’ button (bottom right) to view photos of all your oils. The photos are sorted by category.
  • Sort: Tap the ‘sort’ button (bottom right) to sort your oils by Brand, Botanical Name, Category, Size, Origin, Name, and Sub Category. To view all oils assigned to a particular Brand, Category, Sub Category, Tag, etc, you can either go to the Lists section and select the Brand, Category, etc. Or go to the Statistics Section and scroll to the bottom and select Brands, Categories, etc. **To set a Sort Default for this section, go the Options Section.

Oil Details: The screen show you the details that you entered about your oil. Tap the photo to view a larger version of it.

  • Purchase Details: To add, edit or delete Purchase Details from this oil, scroll down to the ‘Purchase Details’ section. You will see a summary of the purchases you have made for this oil. When you tap on the row, you will be taken to the Purchases screen where you can view details about all your purchases for this oil.
  • Edit: Tap the ‘Edit’ button (top right) to edit details about your oil
  • Delete: Tap the ‘trash’ button (bottom left) to delete your oil
  • Favorites: Tap the ‘heart’ button (bottom middle) to add the oil to your Favorites list.
  • Menu: Tap the ‘menu’ button (bottom right) to Add the Oil to your Shopping List, Move the Oil to the Archive or Share the details of your oil with friends.

Save a Copy of your Photo: You have the option to save a copy of your photo to your Photo Library. There are two ways to do this:

  • Option 1: on the “Add Oil” screen, after taking a photo, you will be given the option to “Save Copy to Photo Library”.
  • Option 2: select one of your Oils, once you are on the Oil Details screen, select the “Edit” button (top right), on the Edit screen, tap the photo, you will be given the option to “Save Copy to Photo Library”

Accessories The Accessories section shows you all the accessories you entered. It is very similar in how you add and edit products. The biggest difference is that you can only enter one Purchase Record for each Accessory. From the Accessories screen, you can:

  • Add an Accessory: To add a new accessory tap the “+” button (top right). When adding an accessory, you have the option to add as much or as little information as you want. The only required field is the name
  • Archive: Tap the ‘cabinet’ button (bottom left) to view accessories that you have added to the Archive.
  • Favorites: Tap the ‘heart’ button (bottom left) to see accessories that you added to your Favorites List.
  • Photos: Tap the ‘photos’ button (bottom right) to view photos of the accessories you added. The photos are sorted by Category
  • Sort: Tap the ‘sort’ button (bottom right) to sort your accessories by Brand, Category, Location, Name, and Sub Category. To view all accessories assigned to a particular Brand, Category, Sub Category, Tag, etc, you can either go to the Lists section and select the Brand, Category, etc. Or go to the Statistics Section and scroll to the bottom and select Brands, Categories, etc. **To set a Sort Default for this section, go the Options Section.

Accessory Details: This screen shows you details about your accessory. Tap the photo to view a larger version of your accessory photo. To edit your accessory details, tap the “Edit” button (top right). From the Toolbar button at the bottom of the screen, you can do the following:

  • Menu button (bottom right): select the menu button to Create a Duplicate Accessory, Move the Accessory to the Archive or Share your accessory details with friends.
  • Heart Button (bottom middle): tap the ‘heart’ button (bottom middle) to add the accessory to your Favorites List.
  • Trash button (bottom left): tap the ‘trash’ button (bottom left) to delete the accessory

Recipes Use the Recipes section to keep track of all your Essential Oil Recipes, including a photo, details/instructions for the recipe, source of the recipes, and a list of ingredients. To add a recipe, tap the ‘+’ button (top right) to add a Recipe.

Add Recipe: When adding a recipe, the only required field is the recipe name. To add Ingredients to the recipe, tap the ‘Ingredients’ button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Ingredients: from the Ingredients screen, tap the ‘+’ button (top right) to add a new ingredient. You can add as many ingredients as you want (as a Premium Member, there is not a limit to the number of ingredients you can add).When adding an ingredient, you will need to complete the Amount field and the Oil field. In the Oil field, you have the option to select on of your oils or add an oil or ingredient that isn’t entered, for example, water, a diffuser, or whatever the recipe requires.If you want to Delete or Change the order of your Ingredients, tap the ‘Edit’ button (bottom left).

Shopping List The Shopping List section shows you the Oils and Accessories you added to the Shopping List.
From the Shopping List screen, you can:

  • Add an Item: To add an oil or accessory to the Shopping List, tap the “+” button (top right). For Oils, you have the option to (1) add a new oil, or (2) choose from your Oil List.
  • Sort: Tap the ‘sort’ button (bottom right) to sort the Shopping List. You can set a sort default by going to the Options section.

Details Screen: When you select an item from the Shopping List, you will be taken to the Details screen for that item.

  • For Oils: After purchasing an oil, tap the ‘menu’ button (bottom right) to remove the oil from your Shopping List and add it to your Oils list. If when adding an oil, you chose to select an oil from your list, you will be given the option to add the purchase details to the existing oil or add it as a new oil.
  • For Accessories: After purchasing an accessory, tap the ‘menu’ button (bottom right) to remove the accessory from your Shopping List and add it to your Accessory List.

Purchases The Purchases section will show you the purchase information for your Oils and Accessories. You will need to make sure you have completed the Purchase Details section when you add your oil or accessory, in order for the details to appear in this section.

  • Oils: When you tap on an oil, it will take you to the Purchase Details for the Oil. If you want to view oil info, tap the View Oil Details row at the bottom of the screen.
  • Accessories: When you tap on an accessory, it will take you to the accessory details screen.
  • Sort: Tap the ‘sort’ button (bottom right) to sort the Purchase Report by Store, Month, or Year. You can set a sort default by going to the Options section.

Statistics The Statistics section includes more detailed information on your oils, accessories, recipes, and lists. To view a summary, including the number of oils and accessories you purchased in the last 7 days or 30 days, go to the Summary section.

  • Oils: this includes all oils you added to the app. It excludes oils on the Shopping List. It includes: Total Oils: this shows the total number of oils purchased and Amount Spent: this is the total amount spent for all the oils you added to the app.
  • Oil Lists: Shows the Oils you added to your Oils List and Archive.
  • Status (All Oil Lists): this shows the number of Opened Oils, UnOpened Oils, Empty Oils and Expired Oils. These numbers include oils from all the lists: Oils and the Archive. If you notice the rows have a right arrow. When you tap on a row, it will show you a listing of the oils associated with that row.
  • Accessories: this includes quantity of accessories you added to the app. It excludes accessories on the Shopping List. It includes: Total Accessories (Quantity) and the Amount Spent.
  • Accessory Lists: Shows the Accessories you added to your Accessory List and Archive.
  • Shopping List: this section will show you the number of oils and accessories you added to the Shopping List.
  • Recipes: this section will show you how many recipes you added to the Recipe section.
  • Lists: this section will show you how many items you added to each of the Lists (Aromas, Brands, Categories, etc.). If you notice each row has a right arrow. If you tap the row, it will show you a list of the items associated with that list. Tap one of the items, and you can view a list of the oils, accessories and recipes assigned to it.

Summary SUMMARY: The summary section includes the following: a summary of your info, including Expired Oils, Total Oils and Accessories and added (excluded Shopping List).

Also, view how many oils and accessories you purchased and how much you spent the last 7 days and 30 days.

Lists LISTS: The List section includes the list of Aromas, Brands, Categories, Sub Categories, Locations, Stores, and Tags. When you select one of these items, you are taken to a screen that lists them.

For example, when you tap Brands, you are taken to a screen that shows all your Brands. To the right of the Brand name is a number – that is how many oils and accessories are assigned to that brand.

**The Tags section shows how many Oils, Accessories, and Recipes you assigned to that Tag.

  • ADD Items by tapping the ‘+’ button (top right)
  • EDIT items by tapping the ‘i’ on the right side of the item.
  • DELETE items by tapping the ‘Delete’ button (bottom left) or by swiping left on the item you want to delete.

**When you tap the row, you will be taken to a screen that shows all the oils, accessories, and recipes assigned to that item.

OptionsOPTIONS: In the Options section, you can set a Sort Default for Oils, Accessories, Purchase Report and Shopping List, Export your data in a CSV File and Sync Data. You have the option to sync data between devices using iCloud or Dropbox. For help, visit Instructions for Syncing Data.

Support SUPPORT: In the Support section, you can Access the User’s Guide, Instructions for Backing up Data, Email Developer (Premium Members can get Priority Support), and View Subscription details. In the About section, you can get the version number, access the Privacy Policy and Terms of use for the app, and view licenses.

Premium Members can join the email list to stay informed of updates, submit feature requests, vote on new features being added to the app, and more.
